The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors' Sept. 2 agenda carries a full slate of Planning & Zoning Commission recommendations, headlined by a rare denial: commissioners voted 7-0 to reject a Military Compatibility Permit for a truck freight and logistics yard 825 feet east of the northeast corner of Alsup Ave. & Myrtle Ave. in west Glendale. Also moving forward are approvals for Happy Valley Commercial, a C-3 CUPD zone change at Happy Valley Pkwy & 115th Ave., and Broadway Auto Salvage & Recycling, an IND-3 IUPD rezoning at Broadway Rd & 43rd Ave. In the far West Valley, the commission backed paired comprehensive plan amendments and zone changes for Balterra Balterra and Camelback Creek Camelback Creek, shifting land use designations to mixed-use and IND-2 industrial on properties at 411th Ave & Camelback Rd. in Buckeye and Tonopah. If the supervisors follow the recommendations, the industrial rezonings would permit warehouses and data centers up to 85 feet tall, with conditions on screening, parking, and floodplain review.
