Chandler is weighing a new set of water and wastewater prices. Its Oct. 15 agenda takes up the introduction and tentative adoption of Ordinance No. 5181, which would adjust water, wastewater and reclaimed water rates and fees alongside a public hearing on the same proposed changes. The same agenda lists design and construction agreements for Phase 3 of its Water Reclamation Facility — the plant that treats used water so it can be reused — plus the purchase of a closed-circuit TV truck to inspect sewer lines.
Peoria is moving money to speed up its reused-water pipeline. Council takes up a budget transfer of $3,278,069 from the Jomax water reclamation plant expansion to the Reclaimed Water Transmission Main Project 2 to accelerate that project, a separate budget transfer in the Water Services capital plan for the same main, a lease of extra underground storage capacity at the New River Agua Fria site and a partial temporary assignment of storage entitlement at that project involving Salt River Project. Elsewhere on wastewater, Glendale takes up Amendment No. 3 to its Arcadis contract for Phase III design of raw sewage pump station forcemain alternatives, Mesa lists a dollar-limit increase on its water and wastewater inspection and assessment contract and a storm drain pump maintenance contract, and Phoenix has a right-of-way encroachment permit for industrial wastewater conveyance facilities and on-call engineering support for process control and security upgrades.
Several cities worked the supply side. Scottsdale scheduled an executive session to weigh the city's position on buying water in the Harquahala Valley, and its regular agenda lists participation in proposed class action settlements over PFAS contamination of drinking water, while Tempe's executive session agenda lists multi-district PFAS litigation involving municipal water providers. Buckeye's agenda lists action on a sale of water rights transaction extinguishment credits, Flagstaff's Water Commission takes up old business on a draft ordinance for high-volume water users, Litchfield Park takes up a budget adjustment for its FY27 groundwater assessments, and Tempe lists a pre-construction contract with Felix Construction for Well 15 at the South Tempe Water Treatment Plant.
Flood control and clean air items filled out the week. Mesa takes up an intergovernmental agreement with the Maricopa County Flood Control District for the Pecos Road basins and storm drain improvements, Flagstaff lists adoption of an ordinance authorizing property acquisition for the Fanning Wash culvert at Steves Boulevard — the same measure on its draft agenda — and county supervisors see flood control easement and right-of-way documents, acceptance of donated fill materials and asphaltic millings and a hearing for the Casitas Bonitas Sanitary Sewer Improvement District. On air quality, the county lists participation in the EPA State Clean Diesel Grant Program and a resolution delegating authority to facilitate the Mowing Down Pollution program, Phoenix takes up design-bid-build services for alley dustproofing in Districts 4, 7 and 8, and supervisors receive the annual Travel Reduction Program report. Smaller items round it out: Phoenix has retroactive authorization for a land use license with the Central Arizona Water Conservation District, a request for award of an environmental lab services contract and retroactive authorization for a state recycling grant; the county has an agreement with the Arizona Department of Health Services on extreme heat resilience; Tempe lists wastewater sampling and flow monitoring equipment, backflow parts and assemblies and a Desert Conservation Commission item; and Yuma lists a council report on meetings and events attended Oct. 7–21.
