12. PRECINCT COMMITTEEMEN ELECTIONS Pursuant to A.R.S. §16-410, 16-822(B), authorize the appointment and cancellation of elections of Precinct Committeemen for those precincts that are uncontested. Declare vacant those positions for all precincts where no nomination petition was filed for a candidate and no nomination paper was filed for a write-in candidate to fill the position for which the election is being held. If the total number of persons who filed a nomination petition as of April 6, 2020 or write in nomination paper as of May 20, 2020, is equal to or less than the number of positions to be filled for each office to be elected at the Primary Election, the County Board of Supervisors is authorized to cancel the election and appoint those candidates who filed a nomination petition or write-in nomination paper to serve as a precinct committeemen for the respective two year term beginning October 1, 2020. A person who is appointed pursuant to this section is fully vested with the powers and duties of the offices as if elected to that office. The list of precincts and uncontested contests is on file in the Clerk of the Board’s Office and retained in accordance with ASLAPR approved retention schedule. Pursuant to A.R.S. §16-410, 16-822(B), authorize the Director of Election Day and Emergency Voting to cancel the August 4, 2020 election s for precinct committeemen positions for those positions that are uncontested and for those positions for which no nomination petition was filed for a candidate and no nomination paper was filed for a write-in candidate. If the total number of persons who filed a nomination petition as of April 6, 2020 or write in nomination paper as of May 20, 2020, is equal to or less than the number of positions to be filled for each office to be elected at the August 4, 2020 election, the County Board of Supervisors authorizes the Director of Election Day and Emergency Voting to cancel the election. After the May 20, 2020 write-in candidate filing deadline, the Director will compile a list of positions and candidates and present this list to the Board of Supervisors at a subsequent board meeting prior to June 22, 2020 so the Board of Supervisors can appoint those candidates who filed a nomination petition or write-in nomination paper to serve as a precinct committeemen for the respective two year term beginning October 1, 2020. A person who is appointed pursuant to this section shall be deemed an elected precinct committeeman and will be fully vested with the powers and duties of the offices. (C-06-20-510-7-00)
