24. ONE TIME ADDITION TO THE FLEET, EXEMPTION FROM MARKINGS AND ISSUANCE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL LICENSE PLATES Approve a one time addition to the fleet of four vehicles to be purchased by the Adult Probation Department for a total cost not-to-exceed $127,000. These vehicles will be purchased using operating savings that exist within this Department’s Detention Fund (255). Also, approve an exception from markings and issuance of non-governmental license plates per A.R.S. 38-538.03 because these vehicles will be used to locate and apprehend felony probation and pretrial absconders. Markings are detrimental to the mission. They will be take home vehicles because surveillance and apprehension is not a regularly scheduled assignment with set hours. The vehicle information including the make, model, color and VIN numbers will be provided to the Clerk of the Board upon approval of this agenda and purchase of these vehicles. Additional costs for operating expenses are estimated to be approximately $4,000 for FY2013-14 ($24,000) annualized and will be absorbed in the Adult Probation Detention Fund (255) operating budget. These vehicles will be retired at the end of their useful life with no funding from the General Fund for replacement. (C-11-14-004-V-00)
