25. PERMANENT ADDITION TO THE FLEET WITH EXEMPTION FROM MARKINGS AND ISSUANCE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL LICENSE PLATES Approve the permanent addition of eight (8) vehicles to the Adult Probation fleet. Two (2) of these vehicles will be purchased using one time funds that exist within this department’s FY18 General Fund (Fund 100) budget at an estimated cost of $54,000; six (6) of these vehicles will be purchased using one time funds that exist within this department’s FY18 Detention Fund (Fund 255) budget at an estimated cost of $162,000. Direct the Budget Office to adjust the Operating Vehicle Replacement Fund as necessary in future years to accommodate these vehicles being added to the permanent fleet. Also, approve an exemption from markings and issuance of non-governmental license plates per A.R.S. §38-538.03 because these vehicles will be used to provide surveillance and supervision of convicted felons residing in the community. Markings are detrimental to the mission. These will be take home vehicles because surveillance and apprehension are not regularly scheduled assignments with set hours. The vehicle information, including make, model, year, color and VIN number will be provided to the Clerk of the Board upon approval of this agenda and purchase of the vehicles. These vehicles are needed for FY2017-18 growth positions in the Adult Intensive Probation Supervision, Domestic Violence and Sex Offender programs. Additional operating expenses for the new vehicles are estimated to be approximately $5,000 for the General Fund vehicles and $15,000 for the Detention Fund vehicles. These costs will be absorbed in the Adult Probation General and Detention Fund operating budgets. (C-11-17-009-V-00)
