88. 2009 MARICOPA COUNTY MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN Approve the 2009 Maricopa County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The mitigation plan identifies and establishes county policies and tools that will be implemented in the unincorporated areas of the county, over the long term, which will result in a reduction of risk and potential future losses from a disaster event. The plan establishes a framework to ensure that the most appropriate and equitable mitigation projects are undertaken. State and local governments that have established mitigation plans that meet the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 criteria and have their mitigation plans approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are eligible to receive increased future grant funding. Conversely, if states and local governments do not have a FEMA-approved mitigation plan, they will not be eligible to apply for certain grant funding. There is no financial impact to the county as a result of this plan. (C-15-10-012-M-00)
