24. JUDICIAL OFFICER SALARY ADJUSTMENT In accordance with A.R.S. 42-17106(B), approve the following adjustments to the FY 2023 budget: 1. Decrease the expenditure appropriation in the Non-Departmental (D470) General Fund (100) Operating (OPER) “Judicial Officer Salary Increase” (4711) budget line by $1,587,040. 2. Increase the expenditure appropriation in the Superior Court (D800) General Fund (100) Operating (OPER) budget by $1,342,418. 3. Increase the expenditure appropriation in the Justice Courts (D240) General Fund (100) Operating (OPER) budget by $244,622. The State legislature passed HB2862 in the most recent session, which increased the Judges salary to $180,000 over a two-year period. The first increase to $164,700 is effective on 1/1/23. This also impacts Court Commissioners who earn 90% of a Judges salary and Justices of the Peace who earn 70% of a Judges salary. Maricopa County is responsible for paying 50% of the Judges salary and 100% of the Court Commissioners and Justice of the Peace salaries. (C-18-23-062-X-00)
