6. JUDICIAL OFFICER SALARY INCREASES In accordance with A.R.S. 42-17106(B), approve the following adjustments to the FY 2025 budget: 1. Decrease the expenditure appropriation in the Non Departmental (D470) General Fund (100) Operating (OPER) “Unreserved Contingency” (4711) budget line by $1,099,263. 2. Increase the expenditure appropriation in the Superior Court (D800) General Fund (100) Operating (OPER) budget by $932,245. 3. Increase the expenditure appropriation in the Justice Courts (D240) General Fund (100) Operating (OPER) budget by $167,018. These actions will have a County-wide net impact of $0 and they do not alter the budget constraining the expenditure of local revenues duly adopted by the Board pursuant to A.R.S. 42-17105. The State legislature passed HB2897 in the most recent session, which increased the Judges salary to $200,000 over a two-year period. The first increase to $190,000 is effective on 1/1/2025. This also impacts Court Commissioners who earn 90% of a Judges salary and Justices of the Peace who earn 70% of a Judges salary. Maricopa County is responsible for paying 50% of the Judges salary and 100% of the Court Commissioners and Justice of the Peace salaries. (C-18-25-045-X-00)
