11. OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS AND OATHS OF OFFICE - COUNTY ATTORNEY 1. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-409, approve the official appointment of the following deputies and assistants of the Maricopa County Attorney. Authorize the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors to certify the Official Appointment and Oaths of Office in accordance with A. R. S. § 38-231. Effective December 24, 2012: Johnny Gabaldon – Paralegal Effective January 7, 2013: Gregg Thurston – Attorney Laura Patel – Attorney Michael Meislish – Detective Kathleen Copeland – Lieutenant Craig Walter – Lieutenant Adrienne Castillo – Paralegal Susan Norris – Paralegal Elizabeth Best – Paralegal Christina Crabtree – Paralegal Wendy Plotkin – Paralegal 2. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-409, approve the official appointment of the following law school student as a Deputy County Attorney in accordance with Rule 38 (d) et al, of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Arizona. This un-paid law school student, deemed by the County Attorney to be qualified under the Arizona Supreme Court Rules, Rule 38(d)(5), will conduct the prosecution of criminal cases as allowed by Rule 38(d)(3)(B). Authorize the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors to certify the Official Appointment and Oath of Office in accordance with A. R. S. § 38-231. Effective January 7, 2013: Soo Yun Chang – Arizona State University 1. The County Attorney is an Officer of the County, as enumerated in A.R.S. § 11-401, and pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-409, such an enumerated County Officer may appoint deputies and assistants with the consent of the Board of Supervisors. 2. Rule 38(d) et al, of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Arizona outline the qualifications of law school students who can appear in criminal matters, the circumstances in which they may appear, and guidelines for their conduct and supervision. This law school student voluntarily donates her time as part of her law school studies. She is provided supervision in accordance with Rule 38(d). There is no financial impact. (C-19-13-023-9-00)
