13. COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE REQUEST FOR REVIEW OVER THRESHOLD Per the Board approved FY 2015 Budget Guidelines and Priorities, approve allowing the Office of Management & Budget to review the following request(s) over threshold: 1. Zero Base Budget submission $5,611,223 (Operating expense, fund 100, priority #4) 2. New hardware for criminal case management system $652,000 (Non recurring expense, Fund 100, Priority #3) 1. The MCAO General Fund request for FY15 is $83,012,688, a $5,611,223 increase from the agency’s baseline budget threshold. This increase includes the cost of moving positions to the general fund that serve and support MCAO’s mandates and are necessary for the operation of MCAO, $1,883,106; the elimination of vacancy savings for MCAO, $3,212,153; to cover the cost of an increase in other services for MCAO, $392,770; and to cover the anticipate costs for various supplies and service level adjustments, $123,194. 2. MCAO is replacing its 14 year old case management system for a product that will provide a higher degree of timely and accurate information to prosecutors and staff. Through this project, MCAO plans to implement several near-paperless initiatives and allow prosecutors to access their electronic case records from various mobile wireless devices like laptops and tablets. Equipment to be purchased to fulfill these initiatives include: desktop scanners to scan and store case documents; second computer monitors for support staff; laptops and/or tablets for attorneys to have mobile access to case information; and portable scanners and printers for attorneys to use in the courtroom and elsewhere within MCAO to further enhance document imaging and storage.
