13. BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FOR ONE-TIME VICTIM COMPENSATION CLAIMS In accordance with A.R.S. 42-17106(B), authorize the following amendment to the FY 2014 revised budget: a) Reduce the expenditure authority in the Non Departmental (470) Non Departmental Grants (249) Non Recurring Non Project (0001) budget by $550,000, and b) Increase the expenditure authority in the County Attorney (190) Victim Compensation and Assistance fund (268) Non Recurring Non Project (0001) budget by $480,000 from $0 to $480,000. c) Increase the expenditure authority in the County Attorney (190) Victim Compensation and Restitution Interest fund (269) Non Recurring Non Project (0001) budget by $70,000 from $0 to $70,000. The purpose of this action is to allow for payment of increased victim compensation claim costs not reimbursed with existing FY 2013-14 grant funds. Both funds have substantial fund balances to draw from for this one-time expenditure budget increase. The County Attorney expects to receive $1,663,719 in state and federal grants to pay for victim compensation claims paid to victims of criminal injurious activity. Actual costs for claim payments have increased during the fiscal year and the County Attorney forecasts expending $2,213,719 for compensation claims. The funds in the Restitution/Subrogation and Victim Compensation fund are established to cover such costs. (C-19-14-036-2-00)
