3. PURCHASE OF VEHICLE AND EXEMPTION FROM MARKINGS 1. Approve the purchase of a replacement vehicle for a vehicle that is deemed critical due to excessive mileage and/or the age of the vehicle making it cost prohibitive to acquire replacement parts with which to maintain the vehicle. As the vehicle being replaced was purchased with County Attorney (190) RICO Forfeited Asset Fund (213) monies as a permanent addition to the fleet, the new vehicle will also be permanently part of the fleet. The replacement will be acquired using $32,500 in County Attorney (190) RICO Forfeited Asset Fund (213) dollars. 2. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-538-03 and §28-2511(A), approve the issuance of non-governmental license plates and exemptions from county markings for one (1) undercover vehicle. This vehicle is replacing one (1) vehicle that is used for law enforcement investigative purposes. Vehicle details and identification numbers will be kept on file with the Clerk of the Board and retained in accordance with the Arizona State Library Archives and Public Records (ASLAPR) retention schedule. 1. As this action involves the replacement of an existing vehicle in the fleet, expenditures for the operation and maintenance of the vehicle will continue to be absorbed by the County Attorney's general fund budget with zero net impact. 2. As the vehicle being replaced is currently exempt from markings and governmental license plates, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office requests that the replacement vehicle purchased also be exempt from County markings and issued a regular Arizona license plate as provided in accordance with A.R.S. § 38-538.03 and A.R.S. § 28-2511(A). This will ensure that it can be used in furtherance of their law enforcement mission. (C-19-15-021-V-00)
