10. ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE ARIZONA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY FOR THE VEHICULAR HEATSTROKE CAMPAIGN 1) Accept $20,000 in reimbursement funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for the 2019 MCAO Vehicular Heatstroke Campaign. The 2019 campaign is expected to run May 20th through August 30th and includes advertising via digital billboards, online and social media marketing, radio commercials, print media and press conferences. 2) Pursuant to A.R.S. $42-17106(B), approve the following transfer of expenditure authority within the FY 2020 Budget: a. Increase the expenditure authority in the County Attorney (D190) Diversion (220) Non-Recurring, Non-Project (NRNP) budget by $20,000. b. Decrease the expenditure authority for the Non-Departmental (D470) Non-Departmental Grants Fund (249) Non-Recurring Non-Project (NRNP) by $20,000. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office began this campaign in 2014 to educate the public about the dangers of leaving children and pets unattended in vehicles especially in the Summer. Over the past four years the campaign has used the messaging of “Don’t Leave Me Behind” and has grown slowly from a single mobile billboard to a more robust digital and social media campaign. Last year MCAO was able to increase the reach and impact of this safety message by including digital billboards and on-air radio advertising by partnering with Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the Arizona Humane Society.
