11. ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING GRANT Approve the application and acceptance of grant funds from the Arizona Department of Public Safety to enhance law enforcement services and programs that reduce human trafficking within the state as allowed in SB 1724, in the amount not to exceed $24,500 for the purpose of purchasing seven (7) laptop computers. The grant award begins on July 1, 2023 (retroactively) and ends on June 30, 2024. Authorize the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, or designee, to sign all documents related to these grant funds, as applicable. Grant revenues are not ”local” revenues for the purpose of the constitutional expenditure limitation, and therefore, expenditure of the funds is not prohibited by the budget law. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office’s indirect rate for FY24 is 20.2%. The grantor allows 0% for indirect cost recovery. Total grant indirect costs are estimated to be $4,949.00 for this award. Total grant indirect costs are estimated to be 0 recoverable and $4,949.00 not recoverable. The grant is a one-time award with no expectation of continued funding. This is MCAO’s first grant award from this grantor for this funding purpose. There is no match requirement for this funding. No future contributions are required with this funding. This grant will allow the purchase of seven computers to be used by MCAO prosecutors in the two Sex Crimes Bureaus for their work in the field with law enforcement. Ongoing information exchange and intelligence sharing will occur between MCAO and DPS. This grant award is competitive. Funding for this agreement is provided by a grant from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Anti-Human Trafficking Grant Fund, which allocates $8 million in funding to eligible city, town, and county law enforcement agencies for programs that reduce human trafficking and that comply with the requirements prescribed in ARS 26-106.
