24. WAIVER TO PLACEMENT IN RANGE STRATEGY Approve an exception to the Maricopa County Compensation Placement in Range Strategy for the appointment of Richard Bohan to the position of Director of Government Relations in the County Manager’s Office. The requested rate associated with the approval of this request is $51.68/hour ($107,500 annually) and will be fully funded within the department’s current budget this fiscal year and in subsequent fiscal years. The County Manager’s Office requests an exception to this placement in range pay rate based on Mr. Bohan's experience in the government relations arena. He worked in tandem with the former Government Relations director to lobby the legislature on behalf of Maricopa County. Mr. Bohan has excellent working relationships with legislators, lobbyists, and county Board and management staff. His extensive knowledge of Maricopa County government is valuable in identifying legislative impacts to county departments. Mr. Bohan has been successful in protecting the interests of our citizens. The Office of Management and Budget has reviewed and validated that the financial impact of this request can be fully funded within the department’s current budget this fiscal year and in subsequent fiscal years.
