2. RESOLUTION ON COUNTY SUPPORT FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS Approve a Resolution for “County Support for Economic Development Projects.” Maricopa County has two complementary new strategic goals pertaining to economic development. One is to increase Maricopa County per capita personal income relative to 97.5% of per capita income for the United States as a whole. The second is to increase the share of employment in base industries relative to overall employment within Maricopa County (as measured by employment in high-tech manufacturing in the Greater Phoenix area) to 3.2%. To meet these goals, the County is authorized by A.R.S. §11-254.04 to appropriate and spend public monies for and in connection with economic development activities that it has found and determined will assist in the creation or retention of jobs or will otherwise improve or enhance the economic welfare of the inhabitants of Maricopa County. The proposed Resolution outlines a program to provide funding for targeted economic development projects that are found and determined will assist in the creation or retention of jobs or will otherwise improve or enhance the economic welfare of the inhabitants of Maricopa County.
