26. CONTRACT WITH VALLEY OF THE SUN UNITED WAY FOR NONPROFIT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Approve a contract between the Valley of the Sun United Way and Maricopa County through the Office of the County Manager, in the not-to-exceed amount of $35,000. The purpose of this Contract is to provide FY11 nonprofit economic development funding to the Valley of the Sun United Way for the purpose of implementing/evaluating its permanent supportive housing (PSH) initiative for chronically homeless adults from Maricopa County, with a special focus on those served at the Human Services Campus (HSC). PSH options contribute to the continued effectiveness of the HSC, which not only has transformed lives of chronically homeless adults, but also has substantially reduced crime in the area surrounding the HSC, thereby contributing to the economic revitalization of downtown Phoenix. This Contract is effective from the date of its execution through June 30, 2011. (C-20-11-042-3-00)
