13. MARICOPA COUNTY AUTHORIZED VOLUNTEER TIME POLICY (A2612) Approve the Maricopa County Authorized Volunteer Time Policy A2612. This policy directly supports the Volunteer 13K initiative by allowing employees to voluntarily serve on County approved projects outside of their departments. Volunteerism has shown to be a positive contributor to employee engagement. This policy and initiative offers employees an opportunity to learn about other departments and those they serve. The volunteer events or projects may serve as team building opportunities and may promote employee retention. The policy outlines that with the approval of the appointing authority, classified and unclassified employees may be granted up to 8 hours annually to participate in County sponsored projects of interest. The use of this paid time is limited to those projects or events scheduled through the County’s online learning management system. Time and attendance will be tracked and feedback is encouraged in order to develop and expand this initiative. (C-20-20-003-6-00)
