85. ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION FOR REDISTRICTING BOARD OF SUPERVISOR BOUNDARIES PURSUANT TO A.R.S. A.R.S. § 11-212, A.R.S. § 15- 1441 ADOPT A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Elections Department and the Recorder’s Geographic Information Systems division to prepare draft maps and narrative descriptions dividing the County into five Supervisorial Districts and defining the boundaries and limits of each district. The resolution requires the draft maps to begin with existing district boundaries and then to adjust such boundaries as necessary to fulfill the following criteria drawn from Arizona Constitution Article 4, pt. 2, § 14, revised to fit the circumstances of a county: A. Districts shall comply with the United States Constitution and the United States Voting Rights Act; B. Districts shall be drawn with a goal of not more than a five percent difference in population and in no event with more than a ten percent difference in population, as required by A.R.S. § 11-212; C. Districts shall be geographically compact and contiguous to the extent practicable; D. District boundaries shall respect communities of interest to the extent practicable; E. To the extent practicable, district lines shall use visible geographic features, city and town boundaries, and undivided census tracts. (C-21-22-040-X-00)
