74. AGREEMENT WITH TEACH FOR AMERICA, INC. FOR EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES Approve a sole source Agreement between Teach For America, Inc. and Maricopa County through the Human Services Department, Education Division. The purpose of this contract is to partner with Teach for America, Inc. to provide professional candidates for potential hire as teachers in the Maricopa County Head Start Program. The term of this contract is from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2012. This contract may be renewed at the end of the term by mutual written agreement of both parties. The cost of this contract is $36,000 ($18,000 per year) and is funded by the regular Head Start budget. This agreement will have no impact on the General Fund. A guaranteed minimum of six teachers will be hired through this contract and will remain employed for up to a two year period provided they meet reasonable performance expectations. This agreement is a sole source agreement because the Head Start Act adopted by Congress in 2007 specifically names Teach for America as an organization that can be used for this type of service.
