44. ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM NATIONAL HEAD START ASSOCIATION FOR PARTICIPATION BY HEAD START FAMILIES IN SHOPPING MATTERS TOURS Accept a $500 monetary donation (grant) from the National Head Start Association in cooperation with Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters, a national non-profit organization for participation by Head Start Families in Shopping Matters Tours for the program period 2/7/2013 through 4/15/2013. The purpose of the Shopping Matters Tours program is to empower families at risk of hunger to cook and shop for healthy, affordable, and delicious meals as part of the Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign. The donation will be used to purchase a $10 gift card for each participating family in the Maricopa County Head Start Zero-Five Program to purchase healthy foods at the conclusion of each tour. Tours will be conducted by Head Start nutrition staff. Donation funds are not local revenues for the purpose of the constitutional expenditure limitations, and therefore expenditures of these revenues are not prohibited by the budget law. Approval of this action does not alter the budget constraining the expenditures of local revenues duly adopted by the Board pursuant to A.R.S. §42-17105. The overall budget will be adjusted as necessary to accommodate this donation through a future reconciliation. This donation will not affect the County General Fund. Funding was previously provided in the amount of $500 to the Head Start program (C-22-12-042-D) and was accepted by the board on December 14, 2011 for this program purpose. An additional $500 in funds is being made available to our program as a previous recipient of these mini-grant funds. This additional funding is being provided through the National Head Start Association from funds not utilized by other agencies. (C-22-13-043-D-00) 45. APPLY AND ACCEPT LOCAL TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT FUND (LTAF) GRANT FUNDS FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES Approve the application for and acceptance of Local Transportation Assistance Fund (LTAF) grant funds, allocated to Maricopa County and distributed to Valley Metro/Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA), in the not-to-exceed amount of $836,331.00 for the purpose of providing public transit for eligible individuals in the unincorporated areas of Maricopa County. In addition, authorize the Chairman to sign all documents related to these grant funds, as applicable. These funds will stay on account at RPTA for the benefit of Maricopa County for a two-year period, with allowable annual extensions thereafter. The grant award begins with distribution of funds, anticipated to be March 29, 2013. This grant does not impact County General Funds. RPTA will receive and utilize LTAF funds on behalf of Maricopa County. (C-22-13-044-M-00)
