50. EARLY TERMINATION OF SUBLEASE WITH HOUSE OF REFUGE, INC. FOR HEAD START CLASSROOM SPACE Approve the early termination of Sublease L-7438 with House of Refuge, Inc., an Arizona non-profit corporation, for Head Start classroom space at 6858 East Ursula Avenue, #1, Mesa, AZ 85212, and authorize Real Estate staff to notify House of Refuge of the termination. The Head Start program shall vacate the premises on or about June 30, 2016. The effective date of termination will be July 20, 2016. The Sublease term is for a five (5) year term that began on or about August 2012 through June 30, 2017. The Maricopa County Head Start program will need to relocate Head Start program service delivery to a different location due to community assessment/community need. In addition, the Maricopa County Head Start program will receive less grant funds for the program year 2016-2017. House of Refuge has been impacted by a loss of HUD grant funding and will be downsizing programs. As such, both programs have opted to terminate the Sublease under Section 6.2 of the Sublease which allows for early termination of the Sublease at the fiscal year end for non-appropriation of funds.
