40. MARICOPA COUNTY LOCAL WORKFORCE INVESTMENT AREA BUSINESS PLAN FOR 2013-2017 Approve the Maricopa County Local Workforce Investment Area Business Plan for 2013-2017. Maricopa County, outside the City of Phoenix is the designated Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1989. Workforce Investment activities are administered by the Human Services Department Maricopa Workforce Connections (MWC). LWIAs are required to submit a Local Workforce Investment Area Business Plan that aligns with the Arizona State Integrated Workforce Plan. The plan serves as the framework for service delivery of workforce services in the LWIA, in compliance with the WIA Guidance Letters (WGL) #07-13 and #08-13. Maricopa County enters into Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) with Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) for WIA activities administered by the Human Services Department Maricopa Workforce Connections. At the direction of the U.S. Department of Labor, DES oversees Arizona State Integrated Workforce Plan. (C-22-14-049-M-00)
