31. EXTENSIONS TO WORK EXPERIENCE AGREEMENTS Approve a template or substantially similar Amendment No. 2 to Work Experience Agreements (WEX) with local businesses “Work Experience Training Partner” or “Partner” provide eligible program participants with opportunities to develop workplace skills in workplace settings. The Agreements are non-financial and designed to enable program participants to establish a work history, demonstrate success in a work environment by developing skills that lead to unsubsidized employment. The template for Amendment No. 2 allows for extensions to the current Agreement term. The Agreement includes an option to extend the Agreement for two (2) one-year terms. Upon approval of Amendment No. 2, zero Extension Options remain. The Agreements are subject to statutory language of A.R.S. §38-511 and incorporate the same by reference. In accordance with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title I-B regulations, Work Experience (WEX) opportunities are planned, structured learning experience that will contribute to the achievement of the participant’s employment goals through measurable training components that occur in a workplace setting for a specified period of time. A WEX may take place in the private for-profit sector, the non-profit sector, or the public sector. Also, request approval and authorization for the Human Services Department Director to sign Amendments which extends the term of the current Agreements. This approval will allow for processing WEX Amendments and place program participants in training opportunities once Amendments are executed by the Parties. Prior to execution, all WEX agreements will be processed for approval by the Human Services Department assigned attorney and, when executed, will be submitted to the Clerk of the Board’s office for filing. By approving this item, local businesses currently engaged in WEX activities will continue to provide individuals with structured learning opportunities. The County, as a designated Local Workforce Development Area (LWDA) and is the recipient of U.S. Department of Labor WIOA funds. The Human Services Department through its Workforce Development Division, Arizona@Work - Maricopa County, administers WIOA program activities. The Workforce Development staff work to identify local businesses that are willing to have program participants in their worksites. To date 594 individuals (adults and dislocated workers) have been enrolled in Work Experience training. WEX program participants will receive minimum wage compensation during the hours they are actively involved in worksite training. Participants will be paid through the Staffing Services and Related Services Solutions Contract with ACRO Service Corporation, Serial 16111 RFP. Supervisory District: All (C-22-18-039-3-02)
