72. VOLUNTARY REALLOCATION OF U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE (ERA1) FUNDS TO THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT Request approval and receipt of reallocation of Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA1) funds from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The Department of Treasury awarded funds to the State of Arizona through its Department of Economic Security (DES). DES has voluntarily agreed to have the Treasury Department reallocate funds in the amount of $30,000,000 to Maricopa County administered by its Human Services Department. Also request authorization for the Human Services Department Director to submit financial and data reports on behalf of the County to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The Human Services Department worked with DES to identify the funding need and submitted a request on March 29, 2022 to the Department of Treasury to reallocated the funds to the County. The funding will be utilized to assist eligible renter households impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, with direct financial assistance including rent, rental arrears, utilities and home energy costs, utilities and home energy costs arears, and other expenses related to housing.
