21. EXEMPTION FROM COUNTY MARKINGS AND ISSUANCE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL LICENSE PLATES Approve an exemption from County markings and issuance of non-governmental license plates per A.R.S. § 38-538.03 for vehicles #771511, #771512, #771513, and #771514 issued to the Juvenile Probation Department (JPD) Juvenile Electronic Monitoring (JEM) Program as these vehicles are utilized in surveillance operations. Upon approval of this agenda item vehicle information including year, make, model and vehicle identification number will be provided to the Clerk of Board. These vehicles are assigned to JPD Surveillance Officers (SO) and Probation Officers (PO) of the JEM Program. JPD SO’s and PO’s, as part of the JEM Program, travel distances to monitor youth who are in the JEM Program to perform welfare checks as well as to assure that the electronic monitoring devices are working properly. To promote safety, these vehicles must be exempt from County markings and issuance of non-governmental license plates. (C-27-16-001-2-00)
