50. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR POLICY Approve new policy, “Independent Contractors,” that establishes the requirements and procedures for departments to hire individuals as independent contractors in situations where it is not appropriate to hire an employee. Independent contractors hired under this policy will be hired in a manner that is consistent with the Maricopa County procurement code to perform specialized tasks or projects of limited duration that regular employees of the department would not be able to perform.
