57. 2013 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM Approve the application for and acceptance of grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY2013 Local Solicitation (2013-H4079-AZ-DJ) in the total amount of $1,287,217. The grant will be allocated to Maricopa County and eligible jurisdictions (Avondale, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe). Since they are declared disparate, these eleven entities are required to concur on the distribution of funds. The process for reaching concurrence is underway; an agenda item will be introduced at a subsequent Board Meeting requesting approval of the steps in the grant process to be taken once concurrence is reached (e.g., allocations by jurisdiction; Memoranda of Understanding to pass through the funds; distribution of Maricopa County's allocation among County departments).
