25. REVISIONS TO THE EMPLOYEE LEAVE POLICY (HR2415) TO COMPLY WITH A.R.S. 23-371 THROUGH 23-281 Approve technical and conforming changes to Maricopa County Employee Leave Policy (HR2415) to comply with Arizona Revised Statutes 23-371 through 23-281 and Arizona Proposition 206: The Fair Wages and Healthy Family Act, passed on November 8, 2016. Prop 206 requires Arizona employers with 15 or more employees to provide and allow use of 40 hours of paid sick leave beginning July 1, 2017. Under Prop 206, all employees must accrue paid sick time at a minimum rate of one hour of paid sick time per every 30 hours worked (not confined to a work week or pay period). Under Prop. 206, earned paid sick time may be used by employees: 1) for the employee’s own physical or mental illness, 2) to care for employee’s family member who has a physical or mental illness, 3) due to a public health emergency or 4) absence due to domestic violence, sexual violence, or stalking of employee or employee’s family member. As a result, implementing the mandatory sick leave provisions of Prop 206 requires changes to the County’s leave policy and practices to ensure legal compliance. (C-31-17-039-6-00)
