This exception allowed employees to telework and simultaneously watch their dependent children during the COVID pandemic. Effective June 1, 2021, rescind two out of the three exceptions to the Maricopa County Employee Leave Policy (HR2415) approved by the Board on January 27, 2021 (C-31-21-057-X-00). Rescind the exceptions that allowed eligible employees to, 1) use up to 160 hours of their sick leave to care for a child whose school or place of care was unavailable or operating virtually, and 2) borrow up to 40 hours of sick leave and 40 hours of vacation time for qualifying COVID absences. Until December 31, 2021, or rescinded, employees will continue to be eligible to use up to 80 hours of Emergency Leave with Pay (prorated for part-time employees) if they test positive for COVID as approved by the Board on January 27, 2021 (C-31-21-057-X-00). Rescinding these policy exceptions applies to all employees of Maricopa County elected offices and appointed departments as well as the Flood Control District of Maricopa County and the Maricopa County Library District (Special Districts).
