46. EXCEPTION TO THE VACATION CARRYOVER LIMIT Eligibility: Employees must meet the eligibility criteria set below and receive approval from their Appointing Authority. 1. Substantially dedicated to responding to or mitigating the COVID pandemic; AND 2. Due to the pandemic, the workload and essential duties prevented them from taking time off (but not due to disruption in vacation plans, travel restrictions, or community closures due to COVID). 3. Typically, those substantially dedicated to responding to or mitigation of the COVID pandemic are found in units with responsibilities for these COVID-related functions: o Communications and public information o Emergency management coordination and response o Executive leadership directly involved in managing the crisis response o Healthcare and related areas (e.g., correctional health, medical examiner functions, etc.) o Public health and social services response o Providing safe elections through mitigation efforts of COVID Vacation Carryover: Up to 80 hours of vacation time in excess of 240 hours for classified employees and 320 hours for unclassified employees Vacation Carryover Expiration Date: December 31, 2021 Vacation Payout: Any unused hours carried over will not be paid out at separation.
