17. EXCEPTION OF THE VACATION CARRYOVER LIMIT Approve the request for an exception of the vacation carryover limit as of December 31, 2016 for the following individuals: J. Blair Bradshaw Accounting Manager Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office Arthur Trujillo Tax Services Division Manager Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office The request would allow not more than 80 hours in excess of the current accrued vacation limits of 240 or 320 hours to be used by March 31, 2017. Any excess hours that are not used by March 31 will transfer to the sick hours for each respective individual. Reasons for exception: The Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office is developing a new accounting system for Maricopa County and the related governmental entities that the County Treasurer serves. The budgeted period for this part of the project is through June of 2017. The demands of the project in early preparation, initial design, development and review that has occurred throughout 2016 and will continue through the end of the current calendar year. These development demands has been excessive for those county employees who have been assigned to the project. The ability to take time off has been limited without delaying development resources and incurring additional programming and budget costs. Taking vacation in this critical period would further delay the project and extend the development period and the related approved budget. For this reason, we are requesting the exception to the vacation carryover limits to avoid any additional budgetary costs to the County for this project. (C-43-17-016-M-00)
