41. PERMANENT ADDITIONS TO THE FLEET Approve a permanent addition to the fleet of three (3) vehicles. All Three (3) of these vehicles will be purchased using non-operating funds that exist within Planning & Development’s Fee Fund (Fund 226) at an estimated cost of $90,000. FY2016-17 additional operating expenses for these vehicles are estimated to be approximately $7,500 for the Planning & Development vehicles. These costs will be absorbed in this department’s operating budget. In future fiscal years, the fuel and maintenance costs for the Three (3) vehicles will be budgeted for in the operating budgets. Two (2) of these vehicles will be used in conjunction with new inspection services and will be utilized by the Two (2) new field deployed Building Inspector FTEs. One (1) of these vehicles will be utilized by the new field deployed Drainage Inspector FTE which is being implemented in response to a significant increase in inspection demand. The annual revenue from this new inspection program – Permit By Inspection - which are to be implemented using the Two (2) new vehicles is anticipated to offset fuel and repair costs for the Two (2) new vehicles. The annual revenue from the increase in requested drainage inspections and permitting requiring drainage inspection is anticipated to cover the ongoing operating cost of the One (1) new vehicle addition.
