42. MARICOPA COUNTY PATIENTS' RIGHTS POLICY REVISION Approve a revision to the Maricopa County Patients’ Rights Policy (A2242). This revision adds additional information and instructions for Maricopa County’s HIPAA Covered departments to comply with the requirement to notify patients of their rights afforded under HIPAA and to provide guidance and instructions to assist departments in ensuring health information in their possession is protected according to those rights. This policy only applies to departments within Maricopa County that are required to comply with federal Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
