11. RESOLUTION TO THE ARIZONA STATE PARKS BOARD TO APPLY FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND BOATING SAFETY FUNDS Adopt a Resolution to the Arizona State Parks Board and, if awarded, approve acceptance of a grant for Law Enforcement and Boating Safety Funds not-to-exceed $425,000. This grant funds 50% of the salaries and benefits for up to 10 existing deputy sheriff positions that provide boating law enforcement on the county lakes and rivers. The Sheriff's Office has received Law Enforcement and Boating Safety Funds for approximately sixteen years. A 50% soft match requirement is met by funding the balance of these existing positions in the General Fund (100). The estimated award period is July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. The Sheriff’s Office FY 2008-09 indirect costs rate is 12.2%. These grant funds are the result of A.R.S. §5-383 and indirect cost recovery is not allowed. The unrecoverable indirect costs associated with this grant are estimated to be $51,850. Grant revenues are not local revenues for the purpose of the constitutional expenditure limitation, and therefore expenditure of these revenues is not prohibited by the law. An amount for this funding will be included in the FY 2009-2010 grant budget submission. (C-50-09-032-G-00)
