8. TEMPORARY RETENTION IN SERVICE OF UP TO 22 RED-LINED VEHICLES FOR 2009 HOLIDAY MALL PATROL Authorize Equipment Services to retain up to 22 serviceable vehicles scheduled to be red lined out of the Sheriff's Office fleet designation and allow them to remain as part of a temporary addition to the Sheriff's Office fleet so they can be used beginning November 27, 2009 through December 31, 2009, for holiday mall patrol. Fuel costs are estimated to be $3,500 and will come from Sheriff's Office budgeted funds. Approval of this item allows the Sheriff's Office to assemble a temporary fleet of enforcement vehicles in anticipation of increased activity at the malls throughout the valley during holiday shopping season and increased law enforcement presence. The vehicles will be returned to their former status and removed from service by December 31. (C-50-10-018-M-00)
