16. FUNDING FROM OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, PRISON RAPE ELIMINATION ACT PROGRAM; MCSO PREA DEMONSTRATION PROJECT Approve the Award Document (2014-RP-BX-0048) and acceptance of up to $419,170 in grant funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance; FY14 PREA Demonstration Project. The term of this funding is October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2016. This funding will be used to pay for personnel costs, travel and contractual services. There is a 50% in-kind match requirement for this funding that will be met with existing program staff personnel costs. Any grant fund budget adjustments from this action will be handled in the Sheriff's grant fund FY 2015 mid-year appropriation adjustment request. The Sheriff’s Office indirect cost rate for FY2015 is 15.7%. Unrecoverable indirect costs associated with this Agreement are estimated to be $65,809.69. Acceptance of these funds will enable the Sheriff’s Office to work toward the following three goals: 1) develop trauma-informed victim support services that comply with the national PREA standards and adhere to best practices; 2) build staff’s capacity to increase safety for vulnerable inmates; and 3) ensure that MCSO’s policies and practices are sufficient to prevent and respond to sexual abuse and comply with the PREA standards. Funding will also be used to support an external evaluation of the project’s activities, strategies, and accomplishments. (C-50-15-024-G-00)
