13. GRANT FUNDING FROM ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE FOR FY 2016 VICTIMS’ RIGHTS PROGRAM Approve the Agreement and acceptance of $283,987 in continued grant funding from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Victims’ Rights Program (VRP). The Award Agreement is – A.G. # 2016-046. The term of this funding is July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. Grant revenues are not local revenues for the purpose of the constitutional expenditure limitation, and therefore, expenditures of these revenues are not prohibited by the budget law. The Sheriff’s Office indirect cost rate for FY2016 is 17%. Unrecoverable indirect costs associated with this grant are estimated at $48,277.79. This funding provides for three, .55 FTE Justice System Clerk positions and one, .50 FTE Justice System Clerk Supervisor position, and three, 100% FTE Justice System Clerk positions and operating expenses. The Sheriff’s Office is mandated by Arizona Revised Statues Title 13, Chapter 40 (Crime Victim’s Rights) and Title 8, Chapter 3 (Victim Rights for Juvenile Offenses) which require victim notification upon a suspect's arrest, next court appearance, release from custody, post-conviction /post adjudication release, and other changes in status. These services are statutorily mandated and this funding helps offset the County's cost to meet the mandate. The remaining costs are supported by the Detention Fund. (C-50-16-015-G-00)
