14. PRE-AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT AWARD OF K-9 BULLET AND STAB PROTECTIVE VESTS Authorize the Sheriff’s Office to accept, if awarded, up to 14 bullet and stab protective K9 vests from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a 501c(3), Massachusetts based organization. The maximum value of each vest is $2,234. Protective vests reduce the potential for life threatening harm and injury to K-9s in the line of duty. Approval of this item will allow the Sheriff’s Office to meet time-sensitive requirements of the award that specify issuing a local press release immediately upon notification of vest award and again upon receipt of the awarded vest(s) as required by the awarding organization.
