9. TRADE IN RETURN OF SERVICE WEAPONS TO PROFORCE LAW ENFORCEMENT Pursuant to the Maricopa County Procurement Code, MC1-803, approve the Sheriff’s Office trade in return of 293 Smith & Wesson M&P 45 ACP handguns with magazines for $93,949.06 ($301.50 per gun) on the purchase of 265 9 mm handguns from Proforce Law Enforcement. Since the initial purchase of service weapons for standardization, the preference of 9mm to the 45 ACP has increased considerably. The Sheriff’s Office has 293 unused M&P 45 ACP handguns in boxes and requests authorization to return them to the vendor as a trade for the 9 mm weapon of preference. The weapons being traded were originally acquired in 2014 with special revenue funds—Jail Enhancement Fund (214) for 93 detention issued weapons and the GIITEM Officer Safety appropriation in the Sheriff’s Grants Fund (251) for 200 sworn issued weapons.
