18. PRE-AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT AWARD OF K-9 BULLET AND STAB PROTECTIVE VEST Authorize the Sheriff’s Office to accept, if awarded, a bullet and stab protective K9 vest from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a 501c(3), Massachusetts based organization. The maximum value of the vest is $2,234. Protective vests reduce the potential for life threatening harm and injury to K-9s in the line of duty. Approval of this item will allow the Sheriff’s Office to meet time-sensitive requirements of the award that specify issuing a local press release immediately upon notification of vest award and again upon receipt of the awarded vest as required by the awarding organization.
