15. PRE-AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT AWARDS FROM VESTED INTEREST IN K9S, INC. FOR K-9 BULLET AND STAB PROTECTIVE VESTS Pre-authorize the Sheriff’s Office to accept, if awarded, up to fourteen (14) bullet and stab protective K9 vests from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a 501c(3), Massachusetts based organization. The maximum value of each vest is $2,234. Protective vests reduce the potential for life threatening harm and injury to K-9s in the line of duty. K-9 vests, like Deputy Vests, are uniquely fit to each individual K-9. Approval of this item will allow the Sheriff’s Office to meet time-sensitive requirements of the Donor that specify issuing a local press release immediately upon notification of vest award and again upon receipt of the awarded vest.
