22. PERMANENT ADDITION TO FLEET Approve a permanent addition to the County’s vehicle fleet of one specialized vehicle for use by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Division’s Explosive Ordinance Device (EOD) unit. This vehicle replaces the one-time addition to fleet of a 2009 Homeland Security grant-funded vehicle that has reached the end of its useful life. The estimated value of this vehicle plus required accessories and equipment is $120,000. The specifications include: 6.6L V-8 Diesel engine, 350 horsepower rating with 397 lb. torque, 11,500 gross vehicle weight rating (gvwr), and a towing capacity of at least 17,000 pounds. The annual operating costs are estimated to be $12,000 per year, beginning in FY 2019, to be paid from the Sheriff’s General Fund appropriation. Direct the Budget Office to adjust the Operating Vehicle Replacement Fund as necessary to accommodate this vehicle being added to the permanent fleet. The lead time for the purchase of this vehicle is (8) months. Transferable usable equipment and technology items will be used where practical. Specific vehicle information will be available from Equipment Services at the time of acquisition. In 2009, the Department of Homeland Security granted the Sheriff’s Office funding for four (4) F350 trucks for use by the bomb squad. The average miles for these four vehicles is 163,000. One of these vehicles has reached end of useful life and needs to be replaced. There are no Homeland Security funds available for replacement. Approval of this item results in a permanent addition to the Maricopa County Vehicle Replacement pool. This vehicle is essential to modern public safety. (C-50-18-032-V-00)
