18. EXCEPTION TO THE POLICY FOR ADMINISTERING GRANTS (A2505) Authorize the following actions relating to Sheriff's grant fund (251) applications for FY 2019 funding: a. Approve a 3 month exception effective upon Board approval, to the Policy for Administering Grants (A2505) Section D. 1 to the Sheriff's Office that would allow applications to be submitted for unnamed law enforcement or detention related grants and/or agreements that may or may not allow indirect cost recovery and that may or may not have match requirements. Approval of this item authorizes application only and does not commit either the Sheriff's Office or the County to accept funding. b. Authorize the Chairman to sign all applications, resolutions, certifications, assurances, etc. that are included in the grant application process. The Sheriff's Office will return to the Board for approval to accept any specific awards and corresponding agreements. Requests to accept awards or enter into agreements that are subsequent to this agenda will be presented as unique agenda items with separate tracking numbers. The Sheriff’s Office indirect cost rate for FY 2018 is 19.9%. The Board has approved similar annual requests from the Sheriff’s Office over the years. Approval of this item will enable the Sheriff’s Office to apply for law enforcement or detention related grants. The notice for application and corresponding deadlines often do not correlate with the Board of Supervisors agenda approval process. (C-50-18-039-G-00)

The Department of Finance is currently updating the Grants Policy which may change the current process for applying for grant awards. It is anticipated that the revised Grants Policy will be completed by June 30, 2018.With the exception

EXCEPTION TO THE POLICY FOR ADMINISTERING GRANTS (A2505) Request that the Sheriff’s Department exception to the Policy for Administering Grants (A2505) Section D.1. as approved in January 2018 (C-50-18-039-G-00) be extended from March 31, 2018 to June 30, 2018. The Department of Finance is currently updating the Grants Policy which may change the current process for applying for grant awards. It is anticipated that the revised Grants Policy will be completed by June 30, 2018. With the exception of the extension until June 30, 2018, there are no other changes to the original agenda item C-50-18-039-G-00. (C-50-18-039-G-01)
