11. EXEMPTION FROM MARKINGS OF REPLACEMENT FLEET VEHICLES Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-538-03 and §28-2511(A), approve the issuance of non-governmental license plates and exemptions from county markings for 19 undercover vehicles. These vehicles are replacing 17 vehicles that were used for law enforcement investigative purposes and 2 that are used for Inmate Transport. Vehicle details and identification numbers will be kept on file with the Clerk of the Board. These vehicles were purchased in accordance with Maricopa County’s vehicle replacement process.The replacements were acquired using General fund (100) and Detention Fund (255) monies from the Equipment Services department. As the vehicles being replaced are currently exempt from markings and governmental license plates, the Sheriff’s Office requests that the replacement vehicles also be exempt from County markings and issued regular Arizona license plates as provided in accordance with A.R.S. § 38-538.03 and A.R.S. § 28-2511(A). Undercover designations are necessary to further the law enforcement mission and to help maintain safety of the officers assigned to them. (C-50-18-064-M-00)
