17. IGA WITH CITY OF AVONDALE, CITY OF BUCKEYE, CITY OF GOODYEAR AND ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SAFETY FOR THE SOUTHWEST FAMILY ADVOCACY CENTER Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) among the City of Avondale, City of Buckeye, City of Goodyear, Maricopa County and Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) to provide integrated services to children and families for the Southwest Family Advocacy Center (Center) located at 2333 N. Pebble Creek Parkway, Suite A-200, Goodyear, Arizona 85395. This Agreement sets forth the responsibilities and obligations of the parties with respect to DCS's use of the Center and is effective from the date of the last signature through June 30, 2027. This Agreement may be terminate upon 30 days written notice to the other parties. Maricopa County through the Sheriff’s Office is part of an Intergovernmental Agreement between a group of municipalities that supports the Southwest Family Advocacy Center since 2012. The most recent agreement expired June 30, 2023 and was approved August 29, 2018 and amended January 13, 2021 (C-50-19-012-3-00, C-50-19-012-3-01). DCS is mandated pursuant to A.R.S. § 8-451 to protect children by investigating reports of abuse of neglect, promoting the safety of a child in a permanent home and coordinating services to strengthen the family and prevent, intervene in and treat abuse and neglect of children. This Agreement allows the DCS to perform its statutory obligation and have assigned space within the Southwest Family Advocacy Center to aid with investigative case reviews and responsibilities with the Center's Partnering Agencies, including the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
