22. ONE-TIME ADDITIONS TO FLEET Approve two (2) one-time additions to fleet of redlined vehicles #311141 (120,000 miles) and #311147 (116,000 miles). These are 2011 Ford Expeditions equipped with kennels and other K-9 safety features. Each vehicle is valued at $9,849. The estimated annual operating expense is not expected to exceed $2,250 each ($4,500 for both). These vehicles will only be used as spares when regular K-9 vehicles are being serviced, repaired, or are otherwise out of commission. Operating expenses will be paid from Sheriff's Office budgeted funds. These vehicles will be retired at the end of their useful lives with no funding from the general fund or detention fund for their replacement. K-9 vehicles routinely require servicing due to extreme heat conditions and the requirement that they always be running. The use of non-K-9 vehicles to transport K-9's on calls for service when K-9 vehicles are being repaired or having maintenance is not feasible. Approval of this item will allow MCSO to retain K-9 vehicles that are sufficient for intermittent use as needed. (C-50-19-016-V-00)
