23. ENTITLEMENT FUNDS FROM ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE 2022 COUNTY JAILS EDUCATION PROGRAM Approve acceptance of $117,299.51 from the Arizona Department of Education for the 2022 County Jails and Juvenile Detention program administered through the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Jail Education program. The program is mandated for all prisoners who are under the age of 18 and prisoners with disabilities who are age 21 or younger who are confined in the County jail. This funding is recurring and has been awarded to the department for over twenty years. The funding is legislated, formulaic and is non-competitive. A cash or in-kind match is not applicable. There is no future or ongoing contribution required following termination of the funding period. The Sheriff’s indirect cost rate is 14.74% for a total indirect cost of $17,289.95, of which zero is recoverable. Grant revenues are not local revenues for the purpose of the constitutional expenditure limitation, and therefore, expenditures of these revenues are not prohibited by the budget law.
