26. TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF RETIRING K-9 - HE RO Approve the transfer of ownership of retiring K-9, Hero, #K139, to Detective Larry Edwards #S1866. Hero is an 8-year old Belgian Malinois. In recent months Hero has been showing excessive panting and a decrease in both stamina and focus impairing his ability to function in his mission of finding wanted subjects. A recent diagnosis from the veterinarian recommended Hero be retired soon due to inability to cool down and exercise intolerance. Detective Edwards will accept full care and fi nancial responsibility for Hero upon adoption and will be asked to sign the Canine Release and Indemnification.
