AGREEMENT WITH US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION FOR THE DEA PHOENIX TASK FORCE FFY2023 Approve the Agreement and acceptance of up to $59,522 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration for MCSO participation in the DEA Phoenix Task Forces. The term of this agreement is retroactive to October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023. The grant award is reoccurring and has been awarded to the Sheriff's Office since 1998. A cash or in-kind match is not applicable. There is no future or ongoing contribution required following termination of the grant period. The Sheriff’s indirect cost rate is 12.30% for a total of $7,321.24 none of which is recoverable per item 7 of the Agreement. The $7,321.24 will be absorbed by the Sheriff’s Office General Fund (100) operating budget. The grant award is not a mandated function but provides a benefit to the citizens by enhancing public safety through illegal drug interdiction. The grant award is not competitively bid. This agreement reimburses overtime costs for three MCSO deputies that are assigned full time to the DEA Phoenix Task Force up to $19,840.75 per deputy for a total of $59,522. These revenues are not local revenues for the purpose of the constitutional expenditure limitation, and therefore, expenditures of these revenues are not prohibited by the budget law. ACCEPT FUNDS FROM US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION FOR THE DEA PHOENIX TASK FORCE FFY2024 Approve the FY24 funding acceptance of up to $62,122.50 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration for MCSO participation in the DEA Phoenix Task Forces. The funding term for FY24 is October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024. This is a four-year agreement and was previously signed on November 2, 2022. The grant award is reoccurring and has been awarded to the Sheriff's Office since 1998. A cash or in-kind match is not applicable. There is no future or ongoing contribution required following termination of the grant period. The Sheriff’s indirect cost rate is 16.72% for a total of $10,386.88 none of which is recoverable per item 7 of the Agreement. The $10,386.88 will be absorbed by the Sheriff’s Office General Fund (100) operating budget. The grant award is not a mandated function but provides a benefit to the citizens by enhancing public safety through illegal drug interdiction. Approval of this action will enhance disruption of the illicit drug traffic in Maricopa County and the State of Arizona by immobilizing targeted trafficking violators and organizations. A cash or in-kind match is not applicable. There is no future or ongoing contribution required following termination of the grant period. The Sheriff’s indirect cost rate for FY25 is 26.71%. Indirect costs have been calculated as up to $17,420.66 and are unrecoverable per item 7 of the Agreement. The $17,420.66 will be absorbed by the Sheriff’s Office General Fund (100) operating budget. The grant award is not a mandated function but provides a benefit to the citizens by enhancing public safety through illegal drug interdiction. The grant award is not competitively bid.
